Twinkle, twinkle, little star….

What do you give the person who has everything? What do you give ANYONE that’s unique AND is beneficial to research or a cause? There are lots of options. The World Wildlife Fund sells adorable plush animals with their own adoption kits that give funds to help wildlife and natural habitats. World Vision allows you to buy farm animals for a third world family in need. You can always donate to the Canadian Cancer Society in the name of another person too. Great causes. If you’re more into research, you can adopt a star from the Pale Blue Dot Project . For just $10 you can adopt a star from a non-profit organization and support scientific research. For the last 3 years, NASA’s Kepler space telescope has been searching for earth-like planets around sun-like stars in the constellations Cygnus and Lyra. The best part is, 100% of your donation is applied to research! You can designate who the star is for and will receive a printable personalized certificate to give! How cool is that!

I just hope that the person I adopted the star for doesn’t already have one! But then again, can you ever have too many stars?

  1. DOH! After writing this post an idea struck me! I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before! I need to adopt a star in my MOM’s name! What better way to have her name live on now that she’s gone!?!?! If I may be poetic and maybe even a bit cheesy, it can serve as a light in the darkness that shone on us both at one time.
